Record streaming videos using VLC

There are many educational sites that allows you to stream live lectures (and there are websites that allows you to download some of them). And it will be a good thing for many users if they could actually save those lectures so that they can review them later.

Well, you can do this using VLC player! I’m sure that most of you are aware of the fact that you can stream videos by entering the URL of the streaming network (which you can select from ‘Media’ menu).

 

First of all, you need to enable some advanced controls in VLC.

You can go to View —>  Advanced Controls to select the options you want to enable. Make sure that you select the record option. After enabling this, your player’s GUI will look like this :

Now enter the URL of the streaming video file and click play.

Once it starts playing , click on the record button and record the file.
