Google Adsense is currently supporting websites with content, parked domains (AdSense for domains), search (AdSense for search), feed (RSS) (AdSense for Feeds), referrals, mobile content (AdSense for mobile content) and videos (AdSense for videos). And the advertisements delivered by Google mainly come from the Adwords service.
Now they have taken Adwords to the next level by introducing a new product – Google Ads for TV. This means that you can design and deliver your advertisements to television viewers straight from your home or office.
Here is the official promotion video released by Google:
The only sad news is that it is available only for US residents, at this time.
How to create advertisement campaigns?
After signing into your Google Adwords, click on ‘Campaign Management’. Then go to ‘Ad Creation Marketplace’. There you can find the ‘TV ads’ button.
This will allow you to create a new TV campaign. You should have already created a good video ad (preferably of 15 ,30 or 60 seconds duration) for completing this step. Now start filling the details in the form. Google allows you to choose the networks where you want to run your advertisements (many popular networks are available – like ABC, Animal Planet, BBC America, CNBC,CNN Headline News, ESPN, History Channel and many more – Click here to see the complete list.)
How to set the budget?
Typically a budget of 500 USD per day will be ideal for a product. While choosing the timing, you can choose if you want to run your ads during a ‘prime time’ (when most number of people are watching the channel) or not. Please note that if you want to run your advertisement during this time, then you may have to set your budget to a higher value.
If you are going to promote a product like a new technology gadget, you need to have a longer commercial (say 60 seconds). But if your product is something like a web hosting offer, you can go for a 30 seconds video.
Typically, you should have the following aspects covered in your video (adapted from Google’s promo video)
What are the benefits?
First of all, it is very easy to get your advertisements appear on TV. Second factor is that the cost for these advertisements is lower than the tariff charged for direct advertisements (may be because the middle agent ,Google, has many clients).
Here a success story published by Google:
Why ‘tv ad’ is not available in some Adwords accounts?
This may because of two reasons
- It is currently available only to the residents of United States who are paying in U.S. dollars
- You need to switch to the Standard Edition of Adwords from your Starter Edition for using this new product
You may note that though you can set the budget as low as $20 for a TV spot, these advertisements may not appear in the TV since there will be more ‘competing’ advertisements (with higher budget). Also, since it is TV advertising the screening of the ad won’t be liberal as in the case of normal Adsense ads).
