Google and Net neutrality

03 Feb

Google is one of the staunch supporters of Net neutrality. This edition of techblog is about Google’s own activities. Well, strictly speaking, this is not about net neutrality. But it is certainly about the spirit of the whole concept of net neutrality.

The word ‘Google’ has already became synonym for ‘web searching’. Sometimes owing to political pressure, this big company has to act accordingly (to cite an example, the censoring of search results by Google China).

But this edition is about something else.

Look at the suggestions given by Google (using ‘Google suggest’ service) for a set of queries:

Query: Christianity is

google suggest : Christianity is

Query: Hinduism is

google suggest : hinduism

Query: Buddhism is

google suggest : buddhism

And now see:

Query: Islam is

google suggest : islam

Who is censoring the results for this query?
