This edition of techblog speaks about few things that you may not know about Google Mail.
1. If you are using POP3 or IMAP (say, via Thunderbird, Microsoft Outlook, Mutt etc) you can send emails to only a maximum of 100 people at one go. All accounts that try to cross this limit will be blocked up to a maximum of 24 hrs. And you can see an error message greeting you – "550 5.4.5 Daily sending quota exceeded"
2. If you don’t access Gmail for more than 9 months your account may be disabled.
3. If you are running a website or a blog you might want to send a new post ,that you made, to your friends. But keep in mind that if you send an email message to more than 500 people in one go then your account may get disabled for 24-72 hours. In this case another error message will greet you : "Gmail Lockdown in Secton 4"
4. DONOT SPAM!! If you bulk mail people who are not in your contact list (or are not responding to your emails), then your account might get suspended.
5. Always cross check the email addresses of recipients before sending them. If your email is addressed to 25+ broken or non-existent email accounts, then your will be disabled.
Keep all these rules in mind when draft your next email !
